Victorian Ornaments

Description of project: Each participant will make one Victorian-style holiday ornament. Seed beads and other glass beads will be strung using simple bead-weaving techniques to create decorative covers for glass ornaments.

Amount of time, number of sessions: This workshop requires 2 sessions of 2.5 hours each. Most participants will finish an ornament during the workshop; supplies needed to finish ornaments after class will be provided for those who are not done.

Blackout periods . No workshops in September or October.

Number of participants and suitable age ranges: This class is appropriate for adults or children age 16 and over.
Minimum/maximum group size: 6-12 people.

Location of project: This project requires a small amount of table space for each participant. More important is good lighting. A kitchen is generally a good space; floor and/or desk lamps may be used to supplement overhead lighting if needed.

Cost: $200 for 6 participants; add $12/person for groups up to a maximum of 12 people. Includes travel, preparation, supplies and materials.

Payment options: Cash or personal check

Byzantine Earrings or Bracelet Project

Description of project: For each project, the participant will be able to choose an earring kit or a bracelet kit. Base metal (Aluminum) or sterling silver may be selected for each kit. Each kit comes with supplies needed to complete it. Tools are either purchased or borrowed. Instruction includes basic weave understanding and help throughout the session until a finished product is achieved.

Amount of time, number of sessions: 1 session. Earrings 1-2 hours, Bracelet, 2-3 hours.

Please email/call Dvid Volk with information listed above for available times. David will not be available: October 16-19 or November 20-30.

Saturday and Sunday 3pm-9pm works best. Allow a minimum of 2 weeks notice so tools and supplies can be purchased or made.

Suitable ages: 12 and up.

Number of participants: 4 people MAX.

Location of program/project: In your home. I do not have space available unless there are only 1 or 2 participants.

Cost: cost per participant for materials and cost of total time for artisan - cost for total experience with up to some number of participants

Instruction: $5 per person per hour.


Supplies/Materials:
Base metal earrings- $5.
Base metal bracelet-$15.
Silver earrings-$10.
Silver bracelet-$30

Tools: Tools can be purchased for $10 or borrowed for free. (2 pair chain nose pliers)

Sample: A participant would like to make a base metal bracelet, would like to buy the tools and takes 2 hours to complete the project. Total cost is $15(Supplies)+$10(Tools)+$10(Instruction) = $35 for each participant. Participants are not required to do the same project, but be aware that a pair of earrings take less time to make than a bracelet.
